Eagle Scout Project

For my Eagle Scout project, I rebuilt a footbridge along a forest trail in Sherborn, Massachusetts. The original bridge—located near a lake and spanning a small but important drainage ditch—was old, rotting, and becoming unsafe for regular use. Because the trail is frequently used by elderly community members and families, the bridge needed to be replaced to ensure safe, reliable access for everyone.

I worked closely with the Sherborn Forest and Trails Committee to plan the project, making sure all materials used were environmentally safe and would not harm the surrounding ecosystem. The site’s proximity to the lake made it especially important to avoid anything that could disrupt water flow or leach into the soil. The new bridge was designed to be sturdy, low-impact, and long-lasting—built to blend into the natural setting while restoring a crucial part of the trail network.
